Judging Criteria

FIRST IMPRESSION

What does your pie look like before we take a slice?

AFTER SLICE APPEARANCE

Not too runny or dry,  appropriate juiciness, firmness, color, visual appeal.

TEXTURE AND TASTE 

  1. Mouth feel:  Appropriate consistency (i.e. thick, thin, smooth, chunky, creamy, chalky, mushy, runny, dry)

  2. Crust: Texture, flaky, firm, mealy, soggy, under-baked over-baked, tasty flavor.  Does it complement the filling?

  3. Aftertaste

CREATIVITY

We like creative baking but keep in mind that a perfectly executed traditional favorite can be a work of art too!
